Sentinel Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 24, 2026

Sentinel is a browser extension that rates the safety of the website you are visiting. It is built to work without collecting your data. This policy explains exactly what it does with information.

What we collect

Nothing. Sentinel has no account, no server of its own, no analytics, no telemetry and no ads. The developer never receives any information about you or your browsing.

What is processed on your device

Results are kept in memory and disappear when you close the browser. Page content and full addresses never leave your device.

Online checks (on by default, can be turned off)

To check a site's reputation, Sentinel sends only the bare domain name (for example example.com). It never sends the full address, cookies or page content. The domain name goes to these services:

These requests are sent without cookies or a referrer. Each service handles requests under its own privacy policy. You can turn online checks off in Settings, and then all checks run on your device only.

Threat lists

Public phishing and malware lists are downloaded whole, about every 6 hours, and matched on your device. Downloading them reveals nothing about the sites you visit.

What is stored

Only your settings, your list of trusted sites, the downloaded threat lists and your optional VirusTotal key are stored, in your browser's local extension storage. They are never synced or sent anywhere. Removing the extension deletes them.

Sharing and selling

Sentinel does not sell, rent or share user data, and does not use data for advertising, creditworthiness or any purpose other than rating the site you are on.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with a new date.
